Our highly trained professionals treat children and adults for swallowing and feeding disorders
and challenges. From difficulty swallowing and tolerating food and drinks, taking a bottle or
breast feeding, to picky eating we are here to help!
We see many children who are picky and or challenge eaters. Your child may prefer some foods
over others and may not be open to trying a variety of foods. We have clinicians on our team
who are trained in the SOS approach to feeding. Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Feeding
Therapy. Our speech and occupational therapists work closely with physicians, nutritionists, and
other therapists as needed. Most importantly, feeding speech and occupational therapists
work closely with families to develop home programming strategies so that eating and meal
times can be an enjoyable experience for everyone.
Children may benefit from SOS feeding if they exhibit the following signs and symptoms:
•is transitioning from tube to oral feeding
•eats less than 20 different foods (or no oral intake)
•has poor weight gain
•has a limited variety of tastes and textures in diet (demonstrates refusal of entire category of
•has difficulties transitioning to advanced textures
•has maladaptive behaviors around eating
•is experiencing power struggle during meals or falls apart at mealtime.
